BASIC BBQ SAUCE                            American basic

 4 TBSP. butter
1 cup minced onion
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 TSP. paprika
1 TBSP. ground black pepper
3 TBSP. fresh lemon juice
1 TSP. hot red pepper sauce (Tabasco or Crystal are O.K.)
2 TSP. dry mustard
1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 cups tomato sauce

In a saucepan set over moderate heat melt butter, add onion and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes.  Add paprika, pepper, lemon juice, mustard and hot sauce and cook, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes.  Add vinegar and tomato sauce, bring to a boil and simmer, stirring occasionally, 15 minutes, or until thickened.

Makes about 2 ½ cups
