CORNBREAD                             K.F. Braden

BAKE IN WELL GREASED IRON SKILLET 

1 cup corn meal
3/4 cup flour
3 tsp. Baking soda
1/3 tsp. Baking powder
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Sugar
1 egg
1 cup buttermilk
4 tbs. melted shortening

Sift dry ingredients into bowl, add liquids, mix well but do not over mix. Bake at 425 approximately 20 minutes, serve hot, cut in wedges.
