MACADAMIA AND CURRANT SCONES                 Ten Speed Press 
2 ½ cups flour
4 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup sugar
½ cup cold butter, cut into pieces
½ cup finely chopped macadamia nuts
½ cup currants
½ cup heavy cream
3 eggs
2 teaspoons milk

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.  Stir in sugar.  Cut in butter.  Stir in nuts and currants.  Make a well in the center.

In a separate bowl, blend cream and two eggs.  Pour into the well of the flour mix.  Stir well, then  gather dough into a ball.  It will be moist.  Divide it in half.

Roll each half into I inch thickness and cut into 3-inch rounds.  Place on a baking sheet.  Blend remaining egg and milk and brush tops of rounds.  Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes or until golden. -   Makes 12
